RE for Adults
Religious Education for adults helps us to understand the complexity of Earth’s systems, how our lifestyle affects those systems, and how we can change to live more responsibly. It also provides an integrated context for understanding Earth’s wisdom, drawing sustenance from the “peace of wild things” and truly knowing the sacredness of all life.
At the forum on Sept 21st '08, Cloe Waterfield provided details about her work carrying out the environmental audit for the City of Naples; she's been hired to follow-through in this by helping establish targets for lowering carbon emissions for the City. Important work, Cloe.
In Nov & Dec 08, ten congregants participated in the Northwest Earth Institute's Discussion Course, Menu for the Future (pictured above). We gathered in small groups to examine the effects of modern industrial agriculture on both human and ecological health. We explored emerging food system alternatives and discussed how we as individuals can contribute to a more sustainable food supply.
