Sustainable Living includes waste reduction, reduction of toxic substance use, energy conservation, and water conservation.

This summer, we replaced the regular water heater at UUCGN with a more efficient tankless water heater; it works just fine with the commercial dishwasher in the kitchen.

Our new construction to expand our RE and office area has begun, and it will include a second tankless water heater as well as compact fluorescent bulbs for lighting.

On Monday September 22nd, the Green Sanctuary Program hosted an event at which about 20 attendees viewed the documentary by Annie Leonard entitled The Story of Stuff after which we were shown how to use the commercial dishwasher--the goal is to eliminate the use of disposable ware at our church.

The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns.
